Get started in three steps
- Set the tempo with the slider, the buttons or TAP.
- Shape the rhythm. Press a ring to select a track, then press its nodes to switch them on or off. The coloured strip in each corner opens that track's settings (sound, division, volume).
- Press Start. The dial already holds eighth notes in 4/4, so you will hear something straight away.
What it can do
- See where every beat and every point inside it falls, at a glance on a circular dial.
- Layer 4 tracks, each with its own sound (8 to choose from), division, swing and volume.
- Save up to 20 patterns, compare them, and chain them into sequences.
- Ramp the tempo up or down step by step, and stop on a timer.
Every control is explained in How to use. To understand the rhythm itself — pulse, meter, beat division — read the Practice guides.
FAQ
- Is it free?
- Yes. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
- I pressed Start but hear nothing on my phone.
- On an iPhone, check the silent switch on the side and the volume. On other devices, check the media volume. This page does not override your device's mute setting.
- Does it keep playing when the screen turns off?
- No. On an iPhone the sound stops when the screen locks or you switch to another app, and other phones may do the same. While it is playing, the page asks the browser to keep the screen on, where the browser supports it.
- How does it keep steady time?
- The sounds are generated in your browser with the Web Audio API and scheduled slightly ahead of time from a background worker, rather than being triggered by a page timer. Each click is placed on a fixed grid, so small delays do not add up over a long practice session.
